America’s Central Port announced on May 21 that it is seeking bids for the Granite City Harbor Extension project, with proposals due by July 2 at 10:00 a.m. local time. The bid opening will take place at America’s Central Port, located at 1635 West First Street in Granite City, Illinois.

The project is part of the MARAD Fiscal Year 2021 Port Infrastructure Development Program and aims to improve harbor facilities. The scope includes demolishing a timber rail trestle, constructing a new sheet pile dock wall with backfill, performing grading and drainage work, and making minor rail track alignment adjustments. A Project Labor Agreement with the Southwestern Illinois Building Trades Council is required for both the prime contractor and all subcontractors.

A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for May 28 at America’s Central Port Board Room. Questions regarding the project must be submitted in writing by June 26 to Phil Sholl, Senior Project Manager, via email at psholl@americascentralport.com.

Interested parties are encouraged to conduct a site visit before submitting their proposals. Bid documents are available for download as noted in the announcement. For additional information or to receive notifications about future opportunities, individuals can register on America’s Central Port Planroom page.

The development of port infrastructure through projects like this one supports local construction jobs and aims to enhance transportation efficiency within the region.
