Antioch Community High School held its You Make a Difference Breakfast on April 9, recognizing numerous students for their achievements and contributions. The event included a celebration where attendees could view photos and see the full list of honorees.
The breakfast is part of an effort to acknowledge students who have had a positive impact within the school community. Recognizing student accomplishments helps foster engagement and encourages continued involvement in school activities.
Community High School District 117, which includes Antioch Community High School and Lakes Community High School, serves Lake County, according to the Illinois Report Card. The district enrolled 2,635 students during the 2019-2020 school year and covers grades nine through twelve. It is located in Lake Villa and Lake County.
District data shows that there are 178 teachers with an average salary of $63,920 before pension contributions; women make up about 57.6 percent of staff while men account for about 42.4 percent. There were no teachers with more than ten absences during the year, as reported by the Illinois State Board of Education.
Demographically, Community High School District 117 is comprised of approximately 78 percent White students, with Hispanic students making up about 12.1 percent, Black students at around 3.1 percent, and Asian students at roughly 3.2 percent according to ISBE. In terms of spending, the district allocated $29,553 per student in fiscal year 2020 for a total expenditure of $77,872,708 according to state data.
Chronic truancy remains below state averages in District 117: out of all enrolled students during the last measured year there were reportedly only about four point six percent considered chronically truant—defined as missing five percent or more mandated days without valid excuse—compared to a statewide average near ten percent as noted by ISBE.
