The City of Aurora announced on Apr. 27 that it will partner with the Mayor’s Sustainable Aurora Advisory Board and Aurora GreenLights, an affiliate of The Conservation Foundation, to host the return of Aurora GreenFest on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event is free and open to families. It returns after a one-year break and will feature over 100 exhibitors offering information about energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
This year’s theme is “Make a Difference! Be Energy Smart!” The festival will provide resources for saving energy at home, details about available rebates for household items, and demonstrations for do-it-yourself projects. Attendees can also visit special exhibits focused on practical steps toward greater energy conservation.
Organizations such as the Chicago Herpetological Society and Fox Valley Electric Auto Association are scheduled to participate, sharing knowledge about wildlife conservation efforts and the benefits of electric vehicles. The community marketplace will also return with vendors offering products designed to improve home beauty, health, and energy efficiency.
“GreenFest is an amazing way to keep our community sustainable and resilient,” Festival Founder and Chairwoman Mavis Bates said. “We love bringing our community together to celebrate sustainability, and appreciate Aurora’s support for GreenFest since 2010.”
