Orland Park, Ill. – Bishop John R. Gorman, 99, son of Kathryn and Lawrence Gorman, passed away. He was preceded in death by his brother Reverend Lawrence J. Gorman and sister Mary Catherine Lenz.

Gorman served as an Associate Pastor at St. Andrew Parish and St. Odilo Parish, Rector at St. Mary of the Lake University, and Pastor at St. Michael Parish. He was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago in 1988, serving until his retirement in 2003. Gorman was a proud graduate of Leo High School class of 1943.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9th, 2025, with a 7 p.m. Vigil Service, and on Tuesday, June 10th at Our Lady of the Woods Parish. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on June 10th at the same church. Interment will be private.

Donations in his memory can be made to the University of St. Mary of the Lake or the Archdiocese of Chicago. Arrangements are entrusted to Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home.
