Brookfield officials announced on May 22 that Village Hall offices will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day. The front window of the Brookfield Police Department lobby will also be closed during this time.

The closure means residents needing municipal services or police department assistance at the front window will need to wait until regular operations resume. For emergencies, residents are instructed to dial 9-1-1. Non-emergency police and fire matters can be addressed by calling 708-485-8131. Those wishing to speak with a police officer in person may visit the Brookfield Police Department lobby inside Village Hall at 8820 Brookfield Avenue and use the red phone provided.

Brookfield’s Village Hall serves as the main administrative hub for residents seeking municipal services such as permits, utilities, and other civic matters. The local government coordinates departments including Public Works, Code Enforcement, Finance, and Police to provide public safety and community services like utility billing and property maintenance oversight, according to the official website.

Trash collection scheduled for Monday will occur on Tuesday instead due to the holiday closure. All Village Hall offices are set to reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26.

The Joshua Harris Memorial VFW Post 2868 is hosting a Memorial Day ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park (Grand and Sunnyside Avenues) on Monday at 11 a.m., featuring a bugler performance, singing of the National Anthem, and a keynote speaker. The event is open to all members of the public. Following the ceremony, attendees are invited for a light lunch at VFW Post headquarters located at 8844 Ogden Avenue in Brookfield.
