The Brown County Sheriff’s Office reported on May 11 several recent incidents involving traffic accidents and citations.
The report outlines two traffic accidents. On April 28, Jalyn A. Frevert of Meredosia was traveling eastbound on CR 050N Avenue just east of CR 1435E Street when Frevert swerved to avoid a deer, overcorrected, struck a utility pole, and the vehicle landed in a ditch on its side. The accident caused damage to both the utility pole and the vehicle, but no injuries were reported. On May 8, Patrick L. Dunn of Mt. Sterling struck a deer while traveling on US 24 at CR 600E.
The department also listed several citations issued during this period. On April 28, Dana R. Hull of Griggsville was cited for operating a vehicle with suspended registration on IL 99 north of Pike County. On May 1, Jason P. Crisman of Rushville received citations for driving on a suspended license and operating a vehicle with suspended registration on west US 24 at Fast Stop.
While these incidents reflect local law enforcement activity, educational statistics provide additional context about Brown County’s community profile: The average student-to-teacher ratio in Brown County was twelve to one in the most recent school year, with white students making up more than ninety-five percent of enrollment across three schools according to the Illinois State Board of Education.according to the Illinois State Board of Education.
