CHERY announced on April 26 that it completed a public three-vehicle composite crash test for its flagship SUV, the TIGGO9, during the 2026 International Business Summit at the Chery Crash Safety Laboratory. The event was attended by global dealers, international media, and overseas user representatives.

The demonstration aimed to show how the TIGGO9 performs in real-world high-risk traffic situations. The test involved a severe scenario where the TIGGO9 experienced a frontal collision with a TIGGO7 at 50 km/h while being rear-ended by another vehicle traveling at 40 km/h. This tested several safety systems including body structure integrity, restraint systems, and emergency response features.

After the impact, CHERY reported that “the passenger compartment remained intact, with no obvious deformation to the pillars and sufficient survival space preserved. The airbags and side curtain airbags deployed properly, the seat belt systems functioned effectively, the doors unlocked automatically and could be opened normally, the fuel system showed no leakage, and the hazard warning lights operated as intended.” According to CHERY’s release, these results are due to design elements such as an 85% high-strength steel body structure with optimized load-transfer paths and a ten-airbag system.

The company said that CHERY has already earned multiple global five-star safety certifications for its vehicles. It stated: “Looking ahead, CHERY will continue to raise safety standards and deliver reliable protection for families around the world.”
