Florian Sohnke, founder of the Chicago Contrarian, said former Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx admitted under oath she believed two men were guilty of a 1998 double murder where the victims were stabbed 60 times, yet she granted them certificates of innocence that enabled multimillion-dollar lawsuits against the city.

“During a four-hour deposition late last month, she admitted under oath that two men who had sought exonerations and certificates of innocence, she [Kim Foxx] had believed all along were guilty of this crime,” said Sohnke in an episode of Chicago Contrarian, The Podcast. “This is no ordinary crime.”

“Gabriello Salace and Arturo Reyes were responsible for a simply gruesome crime in 1998. Two people were stabbed a total of 60 times in Chicago Lawn,” Sohnke said. “The crime scene was macabre. They were part of a conspiracy with Adriana Mejia, who was looking to have a baby but was having trouble, so she hatched a plot to kidnap children. They marked a woman they saw at a clinic, followed her home, showed up at her doorstep at three in the morning, and began stabbing her and her husband, Mariano, before kidnapping their children.”

According to Legal Newsline, under Kim Foxx’s tenure as State’s Attorney, she opposed only 25% of all certificate of innocence petitions, while her successor Eileen O’Neill Burke has opposed 80% of such petitions, marking a dramatic reversal in prosecutorial policy.
