Chicago Fire FC II lost 2-1 to Carolina Core FC at Truist Point on May 16. Darris Hyte scored first for Chicago in the 40th minute, giving the team a lead at halftime. Carolina responded early in the second half with goals from Tim Zeegers and Mohamed Diakite, putting them ahead.

The match took a turn in the 57th minute when Carolina’s Jair Caiza received a red card, leaving his team with ten players. Despite this advantage and sustained pressure through stoppage time, Chicago was unable to find an equalizer as Carolina held on for the win.

Chicago Fire FC II will return home for their next match against Huntsville City FC on Saturday, May 23 at SeatGeek Stadium.
