Chicago Fire FC will face D.C. United in a midweek Major League Soccer match at Audi Field in Washington on May 13. The match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Central Time and will be broadcast on Apple TV, with English and Spanish commentary available.

This matchup holds significance as Chicago looks to recover from a recent 3-1 loss to Red Bull New York, during which Hugo Cuypers scored his eleventh goal of the season, extending his scoring streak to eight games and leading the league’s Golden Boot race. D.C. United enters the game unbeaten in their last five matches, including a draw against Nashville SC, and previously defeated Chicago 2-1 earlier this season.

The Fire have made several changes to their starting lineup for this game, including the return of Robin Lod after an injury absence and Mbekezeli Mbokazi rejoining the defense alongside Jack Elliott, who captains the side for his ninth appearance at Audi Field. Mauricio Pineda starts his third match of the season and makes his 159th appearance for Chicago Fire FC.

The teams have met frequently in league play; D.C. United is Chicago’s third most common opponent with a series record favoring D.C., who lead all-time with 28 wins compared to Chicago’s 24 wins and 22 draws between them. The last meeting at Audi Field saw Chicago secure a historic 7-1 victory.

Chicago Fire FC competes in Major League Soccer conferences with a professional roster and utilizes Soldier Field for its matches and events, according to the official website. The club fosters soccer growth in the Midwest through community initiatives while advancing professional soccer development programs that support youth involvement. Additionally, Chicago Fire FC has won both MLS Cup honors and multiple U.S. Open Cups throughout its history; its crest and colors are inspired by the Great Chicago Fire.
