Senator John Curran announced on May 5 that a Children’s Safety Expo will take place on Saturday, June 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Madison Junior High School, located at 1000 River Oak Drive in Naperville, Illinois. The event is free and open to the public, with complimentary refreshments and giveaways available.
The expo aims to provide families and children with resources and information about safety in their community. Organizers say the event is designed as an opportunity for children and parents to learn about various aspects of safety while engaging with local organizations.
Madison Junior High School is part of Hinsdale Community Consolidated School District 181, which serves both DuPage and Cook counties. The district includes several schools such as Clarendon Hills Middle School, Elm Elementary School, Hinsdale Middle School, Monroe Elementary School, Oak Elementary School, Prospect Elementary School, The Lane Elementary School, Walker School as well as Madison itself,according to the Illinois Report Card.
Hinsdale Community Consolidated School District 181 enrolled 3,743 students during the 2019-2020 school year and operates as an elementary school district serving grades pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade in Clarendon Hills and DuPage County,according to the Illinois Report Card. The district spent $31,308 per student in 2020 for a total expenditure of $117 million.according to the Illinois Report Card
The district’s demographic makeup is predominantly White at nearly seventy percent; other groups include Asian (15 percent), Hispanic (7 percent), and Black (1 percent). There are no teachers within the district who have more than ten absences per year,according to the Illinois Report Card. Additionally, only four students were classified as chronically truant during the last reporting period—a rate much lower than state averages.
