Chicago Fire FC goalkeeper Chris Brady was named to the Major League Soccer Team of the Matchday for Matchday 13 following his performance in a 3-1 victory over D.C. United, according to a May 14 announcement by the club.
Brady’s selection highlights his role in securing Chicago’s comeback win at Audi Field, where he made six saves and achieved his first career victory against D.C. United. The recognition is significant as it marks his third appearance on the Team of the Matchday this season and underscores his ongoing contributions to Chicago Fire FC.
The match saw Chicago score three unanswered goals in the second half, including Hugo Cuypers’ league-leading twelfth goal of 2026, which proved decisive. The press release states that “the Homegrown goalkeeper posted his first career victory against D.C. United, helping keep the Fire in the match with six saves.” It also notes that “his efforts were rewarded with a win as the Fire scored three unanswered goals in the second half.” This latest honor brings Brady’s total career mentions on this list to nine and marks his seventh inclusion among its Best XI.
Brady’s previous selection came after posting a clean sheet during a win over Nashville SC at Soldier Field earlier this season. Chicago Fire FC competes professionally within Major League Soccer conferences and utilizes Soldier Field for matches and events, according to the official website. The club has earned victories in both MLS Cup and multiple U.S. Open Cups while fostering soccer growth throughout the Midwest through youth development initiatives and community programs.
Looking ahead, Chicago Fire FC will conclude its two-game road trip with an away match against CF Montréal scheduled for Saturday, May 16 at 3:30 p.m. Central Time.
