The City of Champaign announced on April 16 that the temporary road closure on Clayton Boulevard between Duncan Road and Irvine Road will be extended through Saturday, April 18, 2026, weather permitting. The closure is part of the ongoing 2026 Concrete Patching project.

This extension means drivers will need to continue using alternate routes for several more days. The city said access to all adjacent properties along Clayton Boulevard will remain open during this period.

A&A Concrete is conducting pavement patching work as part of the project. The closure began on Wednesday, April 15 and was initially expected to end sooner but has now been prolonged due to construction needs and possible weather impacts.

The city urges motorists to exercise caution in the area and follow posted detours while work continues. No additional background information about the project or future phases was provided in this announcement.
