Prairie View Middle School announced on May 22 that Colleen Sempek has been approved as the next assistant principal by the District 140 Board of Education.
The appointment comes as John Conley, the current assistant principal, prepares to become principal of Fernway Park Elementary School for the 2026–27 school year. The leadership transition is part of ongoing efforts to maintain stability and support for students and staff at Prairie View Middle School.
Principal Maura Baskovich said in a statement, “Mrs. Sempek is already a familiar and valued member of our Prairie View family. Over the past 10 years, she has served our school community as a seventh-grade math teacher and team leader, building strong relationships with students, staff, and families. With more than 20 years in education, she brings outstanding experience, leadership, and a genuine commitment to helping every student succeed.” Baskovich also said, “I am truly excited to continue working alongside Mrs. Sempek in this new role and look forward to the positive impact she will continue to make at Prairie View. Please join me in congratulating her on this well-deserved opportunity.”
Sempek holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from the American College of Education along with a master’s degree in reading specialty and a bachelor’s degree in education from Saint Xavier University.
