Collinsville school board to hold monthly meeting and public hearing on April 20

The Collinsville Community Unit School District 10 Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting on April 20 in the Administrative Annex at 123 W. Clay Street, according to an announcement made on April 17. A public hearing regarding an interfund transfer is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the board meeting.

The board meetings provide a platform for discussing key issues affecting the district’s schools and community members can review the agenda online. The school district serves Madison and St. Clair counties, including schools such as Caseyville Elementary School, Collinsville High School, Collinsville Middle School, Dorris Intermediate School, Jefferson Elementary School, John A. Renfro Elementary School, Kreitner Elementary School, Maryville Elementary School, Summit Elementary School, Twin Echo Elementary School, and Webster Elementary School according to the Illinois Report Card.

The district employs a total of 418 teachers who earn an average salary of $60,392 before pension contributions; women make up about 81 percent of teachers while men account for 19 percent. There are no teachers in the district with more than ten absences during a school year according to state data.

Student demographics show that Collinsville Community Unit School District 10 is composed of approximately 56 percent White students, with Black students making up about 14.1 percent and Hispanic students representing around 24.1 percent; Asian students comprise roughly half a percent as reported by ISBE. In terms of spending, the district spent $16,872 per student in the year 2020 for a total expenditure of $104 million according to official records.

Attendance figures indicate that there were191 chronically truant students enrolled during the same period—a rate of about3.1 percent—which is significantly lower than Illinois’ statewide average chronic truancy rate of9.6 percent as reported by ISBE. The definition used considers any student missing five percent or more days without valid excuse as chronically truant.

Collinsville Community Unit School District10 served6,169 students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade during the2019-2020 academic year and is located in both Collinsville and Madison County according to official sources.
