Adam Carolla of The Adam Carolla Show addressed the murder of Sheridan Gorman by an illegal immigrant released into Illinois, linking the incident to sanctuary policies advanced by the state’s governor, according to a March 25 episode of his podcast.

The case has drawn attention due to ongoing debates over immigration enforcement and public safety. Carolla’s comments come after Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker attributed the killing to national immigration policy failures under the Trump administration. According to The Daily Caller, “Carolla made the statement on an episode of his podcast in direct response to Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker attributing the murder of Sheridan Gorman to national immigration policy failures under the Trump administration. The 18-year-old Loyola University freshman was allegedly shot near her Chicago campus as she attempted to flee her attacker. The suspect, Jose Medina-Medina, a Venezuelan national, had prior encounters with law enforcement, including a shoplifting arrest in the city, yet remained free to commit the alleged crime.”

Illinois operates as a sanctuary state under Gov. Pritzker’s leadership, with policies that restrict cooperation with federal immigration authorities. “The approach has resulted in the release of more than 1700 criminal illegal aliens with active ICE detainers since the start of the current administration, according to Department of Homeland Security records. Offenses among those released included homicide, assault, burglary, and other violent crimes, raising ongoing safety issues across the region, particularly in Chicago,” according to Department of Homeland Security records.

Chicago maintains its status as a sanctuary city and limits local enforcement from honoring federal immigration holds on criminal aliens. “Data from federal authorities shows repeated instances where individuals with serious records were released into the community instead of being transferred for deportation proceedings. Such policies have drawn scrutiny following high-profile cases involving non-citizens who reoffended after initial releases, as seen with the suspect in the Gorman killing, who had been encountered at the border and arrested locally before the incident,” according to Fox News.

Carolla said during his show: “So the problem is you got an 18-year-old girl she was executed by an illegal, you live in a sanctuary state in a sanctuary city, so it’s Trump fault. Trump said he was going to go after the worst of the worst, you fat idiot. The guy who just got done executing this 18-year-old was not a criminal; he was just here in your sanctuary city illegally. You would have complained that all he did was shoplift two years ago, and ICE is coming after him and deporting him; you would have squealed like a stuck pig, you fat ass.”

Carolla has built his career as a comedian and media personality through radio and podcasting platforms such as The Adam Carolla Show—which holds recognition for being widely downloaded—and continues delivering commentary on current events to millions of listeners according to IMDb.
