Corteva announced on May 4 that its advanced seed and genetics business, previously known as “SpinCo,” will operate under the new name Vylor, Inc. The company said the spin-off is expected to become an independent entity by the fourth quarter of 2026.
The rebranding comes as Corteva continues to sell crop protection products such as herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and biologicals. For farmers familiar with Pioneer, Brevant, and Hogemeyer branded seeds, this marks a significant consolidation in research and development resources. According to Corteva’s announcement, Vylor will begin operations with more than 4,000 germplasm patents and 2,000 biotechnology patents.
The choice of the name “Vylor” is intended to reflect both tradition and innovation in American agriculture. The company explained that “Vylor” is derived from valor as a tribute to U.S. farmers’ resilience. The new logo features a stylized “l” shaped like a chromosome to emphasize its genetics-first approach. Its color palette—green, maroon, and blue—references legacy brands including Pioneer and Corteva.
Future Vylor CEO Chuck Magro said the company aims to lead in agricultural technology: “Vylor traces its roots back a century, to a single idea: that innovation could transform agriculture,” Magro said. “From food security to energy security… Vylor will be uniquely positioned to help solve some of the world’s toughest challenges.”
Vylor plans include proprietary hybrid wheat for higher productivity; faster gene editing for pest resistance; multi-disease resistant corn; and next-generation biofuels from row crops beyond food production.
Corteva reports that Vylor will enter the market with what it describes as the largest seed production network globally. Its brands already hold top market share positions in most regions served by Corteva products.
