Ted Dabrowski has been named president of Wirepoints as the online news service looks to branch out in content and readership.
Dabrowski, the vice president of policy for the Illinois Policy Institute for six years, told the Prairie State Wire that Wirepoints wants to give residents some policy solutions they can use to advocate for change.
“My goal is to make Illinois a place where people flock to once again,” he said. “Illinois was a beacon of opportunity when my parents immigrated here more than 50 years ago. It can once again become that beacon.”
Right now, though, Illinois is too expensive, with a lack of jobs and governments that fail local citizens, according to Dabrowski.
“But Illinois communities – where we work, where we worship and where we raise our kids – can thrive again if we reverse the failed government policies that restrict growth and opportunity for each and every Illinoisan,” Dabrowski said.
Mark Glennon, founder and executive editor for Wirepoints, described Dabrowski as the perfect fit for the position because of his background in finance and knowledge of Illinois’ fiscal policies.
Dabrowski, who was born in Chicago, painted a bleak picture of the current economy in Illinois. The state’s pension debts, high property taxes and economic stagnation are all the result of failed government policies, he said. People are fleeing the state because of the “political dysfunction.”
“Wirepoints will provide citizens with the information they need to become advocates for real change,” Dabrowski said. “They need to be armed with the facts. They need to know what really matters.”
Dabrowski received his master’s in public policy from the University of Chicago and an MBA in finance from the University of Pennsylvania, according to a press release. He also spent 16 years working for Citigroup in Mexico and Poland.
