Illinois State Representative David Friess said on May 5 that he and his staff have attended several events and visited schools throughout the 115th District. Friess highlighted recent visits to local schools, a college ribbon-cutting, and community volunteer work.
Friess said he visited Evansville Attendance Center to congratulate the volleyball team for winning a Regional Championship. “It was a privilege to present the team with an official House certificate recognizing their achievement,” Friess said.
He also met with seniors at Trico High School to discuss how state government works and why it is important for young people to stay involved. “I appreciated the thoughtful questions and the opportunity to connect with students preparing for their next steps,” Friess said.
Friess reported that his staff attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Southwestern Illinois College’s new Career and Technical Education building in Red Bud. He said this facility will help prepare students for careers in trades and support workforce development locally.
Additionally, Friess mentioned that his staff joined members of the Women’s Leadership Initiative in volunteering at Randolph County Humane Society in Steeleville. Since opening its new facility just over a year ago, RCHS has helped facilitate more than 75 adoptions, according to Friess. “I’m grateful for the work they do every day to care for animals and support our communities,” he said.
Friess, a Republican, was elected to represent Illinois’ 115th House District in 2023 after replacing Nathan Reitz as state representative, according to the Illinois General Assembly.
