Deer Park Village announced on April 22 that it will celebrate Arbor Day with a community tree planting event near the Village Office on Friday, April 24 at 10 a.m. Residents are invited to participate in the event and collect Bald Cypress saplings, which will be available outside the Village Office on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday while supplies last.
The event is part of Deer Park Village’s ongoing efforts to promote environmental awareness and community involvement. The village marks its fourteenth year as a Tree City USA Community and its seventh consecutive Growth Award win. “Tree City USA is an annual national recognition program designed to raise awareness of the value of community trees, set foundational standards for communities of all sizes, and celebrate community improvement,” according to the announcement.
Bald Cypress trees are described as deciduous conifers with short needles arranged in pairs along slender branchlets. Their foliage changes color throughout the seasons—from yellow-green in spring to soft green in summer, turning reddish or orange-brown in autumn—and they adapt well to both wet and dry conditions.
Deer Park Village supports community events like this one to enhance local life, according to the official website. The village also focuses on responsible development while preserving its residential character and delivering quality services for residents according to the official website.
Greg Rusteberg leads Deer Park Village as its president according to the official website. Deer Park Village operates within Deer Park according to the official website.
