U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin, Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said on June 3 that Senate Republicans have removed provisions from the reconciliation bill that would have funded Donald Trump’s ballroom and the Department of Justice.

Durbin released a statement following the decision, saying, “Thanks to the outrage of the American people and hard-fought challenges by Senate Democrats, Senate Republicans finally gave up on funding Trump’s billionaire ballroom for now.”

He continued, “But can we really be sure this is the last dance for Trump’s billionaire ballroom? Republicans in Congress are running from this boondoggle and the disgraced slush fund for cop beaters.” Durbin also said, “Trust me, there will be more MAGA madness but no help for struggling American families.”

Durbin has represented Illinois in the U.S. Senate and convened the state’s bipartisan congressional delegation, according to the official website. He held a leadership position as Senate Democratic Whip, placing second among Senate Democrats. In addition to his role as Ranking Member of the Judiciary Committee, Durbin participated in committees focused on agriculture, nutrition and forestry.

He has aided Illinois residents by addressing federal agency issues and promoting health programs such as childhood asthma initiatives and medical research. Durbin also supported community efforts by facilitating immigration processes and aiding constituents with federal claims.
