Eastern Illinois University reported on April 16 that its softball team secured a 6-1 victory over Saint Louis University in a midweek matchup.

The win highlights the Panthers’ ability to capitalize on scoring chances and strong pitching performances. The result moves Eastern Illinois to a season record of 23-20, while Saint Louis drops to 18-23.

Both teams scored once in the first inning, but Eastern Illinois pulled ahead by adding two unearned runs in the third and two more in the fourth. Lexie Griffin contributed with a sacrifice fly and later drove in another run, while Mo Hance delivered an RBI single during the fourth inning. Hance also extended her hitting streak to seven games. Lizzie Stiverson added an insurance run with an RBI single as part of her three-hit performance.

Pitchers Rylan Gick and Grace Lemke combined to limit Saint Louis’s offense, with Gick allowing only one hit over four innings and earning her ninth win of the season. Lemke pitched the final three innings for the save, giving up just two hits.

Alisha Frederick reached base twice, extending her consecutive games reaching base streak to nineteen games for Eastern Illinois. For Saint Louis, Karsen Jany and Kate Proffitt each had hits alongside Abby Mallo’s RBI double.
