Eastern Illinois University will travel to Morehead, Kentucky for the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Weekend #2 beach volleyball tournament, scheduled for April 17-18 at Giovanni’s Breadstick Beach.

The event is significant as Eastern Illinois has achieved a record number of wins this season and continues to make program history. The Panthers, with a current record of 4-10 overall and 1-5 in conference play, are set to face Chattanooga, Morehead State, Tennessee Tech, and UT Martin over two days.

Last weekend at the Austin Peay tournament, Eastern Illinois split four matches. The team secured victories against Tennessee Tech and Southwest Baptist but lost to Austin Peay and Missouri State. Tori Mohesky and Alanys Nieves went undefeated across all four matches—the only pair from EIU to earn wins against both Austin Peay and Missouri State—while Sylvia Hasz and Lilli Amettis posted straight-set victories over Tennessee Tech and Southwest Baptist. Emma Schroeder and Ariadna Pereles also won both their matches decisively.

Mohesky and Nieves made school history by earning only the second-ever OVC Pair of the Week award for EIU after their perfect run at last weekend’s tournament. The first pair from EIU to receive this honor was Natalie Mitchem and Masyn Navarro in 2024.

This season marks further progress for Eastern Illinois as they reached four wins—the most ever recorded by the program in a single season—and finished an event with a .500 record (2-2) for the first time this year. Expected pairs representing EIU include Laura Paniagua & Jorah Rutter; Lilli Amettis & Sylvia Hasz; Tori Mohesky & Alanys Nieves; Emma Schroeder & Arianda Pereles; Anaya Rawlinson & Katie Kopshever.

In upcoming matchups: Chattanooga leads their all-time series with EIU 9-0; Morehead State holds a 12-1 advantage but lost last year’s OVC tournament matchup against EIU; Tennessee Tech trails recent encounters as Panthers have beaten them twice this season despite an overall series deficit of 8-2; UT Martin remains undefeated against EIU across ten meetings.

Sylvia Hasz has been named an OVC player to watch for her contributions during both indoor and beach seasons. Results from each match will be available following completion.
