Elik tours Norfolk Southern rail operations at America’s Central Port

Illinois State Representative Amy Elik said on April 14 that she and her staff toured America’s Central Port and Norfolk Southern’s rail operations in Granite City, along with other area legislators. Elik described the visit as informative and thanked Norfolk Southern for organizing the tour.

The event provided an opportunity for local lawmakers to observe transportation infrastructure that plays a role in the region’s economy. Elik said, “Last week my staff and I toured America’s Central Port and Norfolk Southern’s rail operations in Granite City with other area legislators. It was a very informative tour and I appreciate Norfolk Southern putting this together for us! I am always amazed at our transportation assets in the community that contribute to the economy in the 111th district!”

Elik, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2021 to represent the state’s 111th House District, replacing previous state representative Monica Bristow according to public records.

Her continued engagement with local businesses and infrastructure reflects her focus on economic development within her district.
