Emily Masalski was elected third vice-president of the Illinois State Bar Association on May 4. The results also show Albert Durkin and Rebecca Berlin-Melzer winning seats for Cook County, while Marie Sarantakis secured the Under Age 37 position on the Board of Governors.
The election included several contested races. For the position of third vice-president, Dennis M. Lynch from Chicago and Emily N. Masalski from Oak Park were candidates, with Masalski emerging as the winner. In Cook County, William J. Anaya, Albert E. Durkin, Daniel J. Heywood, and Rebecca Berlin-Melzer competed for two available seats on the Board of Governors.
Marie K. Sarantakis from Oak Brook won the Under Age 37 seat outside Cook County after running against Patrick M. Collins from St. Charles.
Some races were uncontested and those candidates were automatically elected according to association bylaws. These include Sarah J. Taylor for Area 7 (Circuits 1, 2, and 4) on the Board of Governors; Taylor L. Tyler for Under Age 37 in Cook County; and nineteen members to represent Cook County in the Assembly.
