Farmers markets to return to Downtown, West Loop, and South Loop this summer

Farmers markets are set to return across the Downtown area, including Streeterville, the West Loop, and the South Loop this summer, according to a May 13 announcement. These markets will offer fresh seasonal produce, specialty foods, baked goods, and other items through the fall.

The weekly Green City West Loop farmers market began on May 2 at Mary Bartelme Park and will continue every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. until Nov. 21. This market features 65 vendors certified by third-party agencies such as USDA Certified Organic and American Grassfed Association.

In the South Loop, the farmers market at Printers Row Park returns on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., running until Oct. 31 with no market scheduled for July 4 or Sept. 12. The South Loop market includes vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables, prepared foods, pet treats, beauty products, and more. A new weekly night market will launch at Water Tower Place beginning July 9 on Thursdays from 4-8 p.m., running through Sept. 24.

The SOAR farmers market in Streeterville begins May 19 on the Museum of Contemporary Art’s outdoor plaza at 200 E. Chicago Ave., operating Tuesdays from 7 a.m.-2 p.m., through Nov.4 . Hosted by the Streeterville Organization of Active Residents (SOAR), it will feature over twenty local farmers and merchants offering produce as well as ready-to-eat treats.

The Farmer at The Green farmers market returns June 2 at The Green (320 S. Canal St.), running Tuesdays from June through Sept.29 with sixteen Chicago-based merchants offering goods ranging from Vietnamese baked items to pasture-raised eggs.

Daley Plaza’s long-running farmers market is also returning starting May22 , operating Wednesdays from7a .m .–2p .m .through Oct .30 , featuring rotating vendors with prepared foods , flowers , drinks ,and locally made products.
