Father Richard Allen Young, an esteemed priest and educator, passed away on June 27, 2025. He was born on January 25, 1964, in Oak Lawn, Illinois, to Richard and the late Barbara Young. Father Young was known for his dedication to his faith and his commitment to serving others. He earned multiple degrees in theology and spent many years teaching and ministering in various communities.

Father Young’s journey in religious life led him through the Franciscan Order and eventually to the Augustinian Order where he found his calling. He served as a priest in different parishes and schools, impacting the lives of many through his teaching and pastoral work. Father Young was remembered as a musician, educator, and priest with a great sense of humor and deep dedication to his ministry and community.

A Visitation for Father Young will be held on Tuesday, July 8, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Orland Park, Illinois. The visitation will continue on Wednesday, July 9, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. For those unable to attend in person, the Mass will be available for viewing online.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to support the care of elderly friars and seminary formation of young friars at Midwest Augustinians or to Providence Catholic High School. Father Richard Allen Young leaves behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and service that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
