FOIA Request to Boone County regarding all county employee salaries 2024 on December 18, 2025.

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to Boone County, Illinois, seeking detailed information about the salaries and employment details of all individuals employed by the county during the calendar year 2024. The request was made by Prairie State Wire, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The request specifically seeks records that include the full name, department or office, job title or position, salary or wages for 2024, and employment type or status of each employee. This includes identifying whether employees are full-time, part-time, temporary/seasonal, or contractors if such records are maintained by the county. The requested data is preferred in an electronic format such as CSV or Excel and should be delivered via email or download link.

Prairie State Wire has asked that if any portion of this request is denied or redacted, Boone County should provide the non-exempt portions and cite specific statutory exemptions relied upon as required by law. Furthermore, if the recipient of this email is not the FOIA officer or custodian of these records, they are requested to forward it to the appropriate office.

As a member of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy—a non-profit organization assisting media companies in investigating governmental agencies—Prairie State Wire has also requested a fee waiver for accessing these public records. This aligns with their role in holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency.

Boone County’s schools had an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14-to-1 during the 2022-23 school year with 9,013 students enrolled and 655 full-time faculty members across its schools.

Our team will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news related to this request and other matters of public interest. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification regarding this matter.
