FOIA Request to City of Edwardsville regarding new contracts or amendments on February 1, 2026.

The Prairie State Wire, a media organization dedicated to covering local governmental affairs, has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Edwardsville. The request seeks access to records related to new contracts and any amendments to existing contracts that were executed, approved, or became effective during the immediately preceding calendar month.

The specific details requested include the title of the contract or amendment, names of contracting parties, effective and approval dates, contract amounts or amended values, and descriptions of the goods or services covered. The Prairie State Wire emphasizes that this request is for records that currently exist and does not require the creation of new documents.

In accordance with the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, the request was made with an interest in gathering information for public dissemination. The requester has expressed willingness to receive these records in electronic format if available. Additionally, they have requested a fee waiver due to their role as a member of the media involved in reporting news to the public.

The Prairie State Wire is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that assists media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through FOIA requests. More information about this coalition can be found on their website here.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
