FOIA Request to Village of Brussels regarding procurement bids and RFP submissions on February 1, 2026.

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted by Prairie State Wire to the Village of Brussels on February 1, 2026. The request seeks access to records related to procurement bids and responses to requests for proposals (RFPs) received by the city during the immediately preceding calendar month.

The requested records include details such as solicitation or project titles, names of bidders or proposers, submission dates, bid amounts or proposed costs, and descriptions of the goods or services proposed. This information is sought for public interest purposes and aims to provide transparency in local governmental affairs.

Prairie State Wire emphasizes that this request is limited to existing records and does not necessitate the creation of new documents. In case any part of the request is denied, they have asked for a specific statutory basis for denial and have requested all reasonably segregable portions of the records. They also expressed willingness to receive the information in electronic format if available.

As a media organization dedicated to gathering and reporting news, Prairie State Wire has requested a fee waiver based on their role in disseminating information to the public. The requestor is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that aids media companies in investigating governmental agencies using FOIA and Sunshine Laws.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
