FOIA Request to Village Of Mazon regarding new contracts or amendments on February 1, 2026.

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted by Prairie State Wire to the Village Of Mazon on February 1, 2026. The request seeks access to records concerning new contracts and any amendments to existing contracts that were executed, approved, or became effective during the immediately preceding calendar month.

The request specifies that the records should include details such as the contract or amendment title, names of contracting parties, effective and approval dates, contract amounts or amended values, and descriptions of the goods or services covered. The information is sought for public interest purposes and aims to provide transparency in local governmental affairs.

Prairie State Wire emphasizes that this request does not necessitate the creation of new documents but pertains only to records that currently exist. Should any part of the request be denied or withheld, they have asked for a specific statutory basis for such denial along with all reasonably segregable portions of the records.

As a media organization dedicated to reporting news and holding public institutions accountable, Prairie State Wire has requested a fee waiver due to their role in disseminating information. They are affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that aids media companies in investigating governmental agencies using FOIA and Sunshine Laws.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
