FOIA Request to Williamson County regarding all county employee salaries 2024 on December 18, 2025.

On December 18, 2025, Prairie State Wire submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Williamson County, Illinois. The request seeks detailed records of all individuals employed by the county during the calendar year 2024. The information requested includes the full name of each employee, their department or office, job title or position, salary or wages for the year 2024, and employment type or status. This includes whether an individual is a full-time employee, part-time employee, temporary/seasonal employee, or contractor.

The request emphasizes a preference for receiving these records in an electronic format such as CSV or Excel. It also specifies that if any portion of the request is denied or redacted, the county should provide the non-exempt portions and cite specific statutory exemptions relied upon.

Prairie State Wire has expressed its role in gathering and reporting news to the public and requests a fee waiver based on its status as a media organization. The requestor is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, which assists media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through FOIA and Sunshine Laws.

Williamson County had an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14-to-1 during the 2022-23 school year. There were 9,809 students enrolled with 684 full-time faculty members across the county’s schools.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
