Frankfort Community Consolidated School District 157C released students early on May 1 due to a scheduled School Improvement Day. Dismissal times were set for Hickory Creek Middle School at 10:45 a.m., Grand Prairie Elementary School at 11:25 a.m., and Chelsea Intermediate School at 12:05 p.m.

Early release days are used by school districts to provide staff with additional time for professional development and planning, which is aimed at improving the quality of education.

The district represents Will County and includes Chelsea Elementary School, Grand Prairie Elementary School, and Hickory Creek Middle School, according to the Illinois Report Card. Frankfort Community Consolidated School District 157C serves grades pre-kindergarten through eighth grade in Frankfort and Will County, enrolling 2,548 students during the 2019-2020 school year as reported by the Illinois Report Card.

Demographic data shows that Frankfort Community Consolidated School District 157C is comprised of approximately 79.9 percent White students, with Black, Hispanic, and Asian students making up smaller portions of the population—6.7 percent Black, 6.4 percent Hispanic, and 2.7 percent Asian—according to the Illinois Report Card. The district employs a total of 168 teachers who earn an average salary of $57,205 before pension contributions; about nine out of ten teachers are women according to the Illinois Report Card. No teachers had more than ten absences in a single school year.

Financially, Frankfort Community Consolidated School District 157C spent $17,992 per student in the year 2020 for a total expenditure of $45,843,412 as reported by the Illinois Report Card.

The district also reported zero chronically truant students during the same period—a rate significantly lower than both state averages and neighboring districts such as Gen. George Patton School District in Riverdale—which had chronic truancy rates much higher according to data from the Illinois State Board of Education.
