The Geneseo Human Performance Department announced on Apr. 27 that several Summer Summits will begin on June 1 for high school students. The programs include a High School Summer Summit for boys and girls, Varsity and Frosh-Soph Football Summit, High School Introductory Summit, and High School Advanced Summit.

These summits are designed to provide opportunities for students to improve physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. According to Coach Angelo James in the department’s statement, participation in these programs aims not only at physical improvement but also personal growth. “Becoming bigger, stronger, faster, more explosive, and better conditioned are all expected outcomes of the process. That’s a baseline expectation inside the GHPD. Those things matter—but they’re not the finish line. They’re the starting point,” James said.

James explained that the real goal is transformation: “Our mission is to guide students as they become physically stronger, mentally tougher, emotionally more stable, and socially aware of being part of something bigger than themselves.” He added that coaches focus on stewardship by supporting students’ development beyond their current abilities: “We refuse to treat students only as who they are in this moment. Instead, we treat them as who they can become…”

Students interested in registering for any of the upcoming Summits can contact the Geneseo Park District by phone or use information provided in the GHPD Booklet.

The announcement reflects an ongoing commitment from local educators to foster holistic development among youth through structured athletic and personal growth programs.
