The City of Geneva announced on Apr. 28 that families are invited to attend the Geneva Bike Rodeo, a free event scheduled for Sunday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wheeler Park north parking lot at 822 N. First St.
The event aims to provide children and their families with opportunities for fun while learning about bicycle safety and education. Organizers say children can take part in skill testing at a bike safety riding course and receive free safety checks as well as access a repair station hosted by a local bike shop.
Additional activities include helmet fitting provided by Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital and educational sessions on bike and pedestrian rules from organizations such as the Illinois Prairie Path, Fox Valley Bicycle & Ski Club, Forest Preserve District of Kane County, and the Geneva Park District.
The event is sponsored by the City’s Bike & Pedestrian Committee, which consists of community volunteers who focus on promoting safe walking and biking throughout Geneva. More information about the committee is available on the City’s website.
Organizers encourage all interested families to participate in this initiative aimed at improving community safety.
