Geraldine “Geri” D. O’Connell, 83, passed away on July 15, 2025, in Plainfield, IL, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on September 6, 1941, in Chicago to Helen and Jack Sullivan, Geri was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed and warmly remembered for her unwavering love and dedication to her family.

Geri was known for her quick wit, unique sense of humor, and boundless generosity. Her home was a hub of laughter and comfort, where delicious meals were always shared with loved ones. Geri’s caring nature extended beyond her family, as she lovingly cared for her aunts and ensured everyone around her felt valued and cherished.

Family was Geri’s true passion, and she was the adored mother of three boys. She is survived by her sons Ron (Marina) O’Connell and John (former wife Kori) O’Connell; sister-in-law Sharon (the late Jack) Sullivan; grandchildren Don, Hunter, and Carson O’Connell; great-grandson Jaxon O’Connell; and niece Christina Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald O’Connell, brother Jack Sullivan, son Donald O’Connell, and niece Kathleen Sullivan.

Visitation will be held on July 22, 2025, at Anderson Memorial Chapel in Romeoville from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service. Following this, interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Evergreen Park, concluding with a luncheon at Pepe’s Restaurant in Woodridge. Geri’s legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will be cherished by all who knew her.
