The Gilberts Elementary Parent Teacher Organization announced on April 15 that it will hold the “Race for the Gold” event, featuring a 5K race and a one-mile fun run, in the Town Center area on Sunday, April 19 from 8:00 am to 10:30 am.

The event aims to bring together community members for a morning of running and support for local schools. Organizers encourage both residents and visitors to participate or cheer on runners during the event.

According to organizers, officers from Gilberts Police Department will be present to assist with traffic control. Tyrell Road will have temporary closures as runners cross at Columbia Avenue and Town Center Boulevard. Residents are asked to drive carefully in the area during these times.

Organizers said participants can refer to an image provided by the group for route information. They also remind drivers passing through Town Center or nearby neighborhoods to show respect and caution toward those taking part in the race.

The Village expressed enthusiasm about hosting this community activity, noting it provides an opportunity for residents to challenge themselves while enjoying local streets.
