Ted Dabrowski, a gubernatorial candidate for Illinois, expressed gratitude to Alamo Steakhouse & Saloon and State Representatives Brad Halbrook and Chris Miller for their assistance in hosting a town hall in Mattoon. The event focused on addressing the state’s challenges and exploring potential solutions.

“Huge thanks to Austin of Alamo Steakhouse & Saloon for hosting a town hall discussion last night in Mattoon,” said Dabrowski. “I appreciate State Reps Brad Halbrook and Chris Miller joining with me to discuss Illinois’ many problems and how we can fix them.”

The town hall took place at Alamo Steakhouse & Saloon, a well-known local establishment on Broadway Avenue East in Mattoon. According to Dabrowski, the venue provided an ideal setting for engaging with local conservatives due to its reputation as a community gathering spot. He acknowledged the contributions of owner Austin and emphasized collaboration with downstate lawmakers like Halbrook and Miller to tackle what he describes as Illinois’ “many problems,” including issues related to taxes, public safety, and economic stagnation.

Economic data from organizations such as Wirepoints and the Illinois Policy Institute highlight several areas where Illinois is facing difficulties. These include slow job creation, weak GDP growth, and wage increases that lag behind national averages. Census data also indicates ongoing net outmigration from Illinois to states with lower taxes and faster growth rates. Analysts attribute this trend to high property taxes, significant pension obligations, and political instability—factors that Dabrowski incorporates into his reform agenda.

State Representatives Brad Halbrook and Chris Miller are recognized conservative Republicans from rural east-central Illinois who participated in the town hall. Halbrook represents House District 107 and focuses on reducing taxes, defending gun rights, and limiting state mandates. Miller represents House District 101, chairs the Illinois Freedom Caucus, and has been vocal in opposing Governor J.B. Pritzker’s policies. Their involvement with Dabrowski suggests alignment on a conservative agenda centered on downstate priorities.

Dabrowski is a conservative policy analyst running for governor as a Republican candidate. He previously led Wirepoints, an organization known for its research on taxes, pensions, migration, and state finances. His campaign advocates for measures such as cutting property taxes, reforming pensions, supporting law enforcement, and empowering local communities rather than relying on centralized governance in Springfield.
