Sophomore Grace Fagan of the Illinois Wesleyan University women’s golf team was named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Golfer of the Week for a second straight time, according to an announcement by the league office on April 22. This marks Fagan’s third career selection for this award and is the seventh time a Titan has received it this season, including all honors during the spring.
The recognition highlights Fagan’s performance at the UW-Whitewater Spring Invite held April 17-18, where she finished second individually and helped her team secure third place despite challenging weather conditions. Severe weather caused play to be suspended midway through Friday’s round, with competitors returning Saturday to complete what became an 18-hole event. Fagan posted a one-over-par score of 73 with three birdies in cold and windy conditions. She finished just one stroke behind Julia Imai from UW-Stout, whom she had outperformed at the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling earlier in April.
The Titans have already secured an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championship after winning their conference tournament in October. The national tournament is scheduled for May 19-22 at Desert Willow in Palm Desert, California.
Illinois Wesleyan Titans compete in intercollegiate athletics at the NCAA Division III level and participate in events within the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin according to their official website. The team utilizes Ironwood Golf Course as well as Weibring Golf Course in Normal, Illinois for competitions as reported by their official site.
The collegiate athletic program continues its season with sights set on national competition following a strong showing throughout both fall and spring segments.
