Granite City School District announces 2026 summer food service program

Granite City Community Unit School District #9 announced on May 26 plans for its summer food service program, which will begin Wednesday, May 27.

Breakfast and lunch will be served Monday through Friday at no cost to children ages 0-18. Meals must be consumed in the cafeteria, with one breakfast and one lunch provided per person each day. The district said meals will be available at Granite City High School and Lake Educational Support Services Center during May and June, while only Granite City High School will serve meals in July and August. The district also noted it will be closed on Friday, June 19.

Granite City High School, located at 3148 Fehling Road, will serve breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., from May 27 to July 2 (Monday-Friday), July 6-31 (Monday-Friday), and August 3-7 (Monday-Friday). Lake Educational Support Services Center at 3201 E. 23rd Street will provide the same meal schedule from May 27 to June 24 (Monday-Friday).

The school district serves Madison County communities including Coolidge Junior High School, Frohardt Elementary School, Granite City High School, Grigsby Intermediate School, Maryville Elementary School, Mitchell Elementary School, Prather Elementary School, and Wilson Elementary School, according to the Illinois Report Card.
