Illinois State Representative Brad Halbrook’s team attended the 8th Grade Career Conference at Lake Land College on April 14, where they met with about 50 students to discuss careers in government and public service.
The event aimed to inform students about opportunities for involvement in their communities and potential paths in public service. Halbrook’s staff said they valued the chance to engage directly with young people and answer their questions.
“It was a very successful event, and Rep. Halbrook’s staff appreciated the opportunity to speak with students about the many ways they can get involved and make a difference in their communities. Thank you to everyone who helped make this conference such a positive experience,” said Brad Halbrook.
Halbrook, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 to represent the state’s 107th House District, replacing previous state representative Blaine Wilhour according to available records.
The conference provided an opportunity for students from local schools to interact with professionals from various fields. Events like these are designed to encourage early career exploration among middle schoolers.
Looking ahead, organizers hope that continued participation by public officials will inspire more young people to consider roles in government or community leadership.
