Attorney general candidate Erika Harold said she recently filed her candidacy petitions, on which she gathered significantly more than the minimum number of signatures required to be eligible for the Republican primary ballot.
“I am humbled by the outpouring of support from volunteers across the state,” Harold said in a release. “I truly appreciate the efforts of all of the volunteers who helped gather signatures so we can bring real reform to Springfield.”
Harold gathered more than 16,000 signatures on her petitions, far more than the 5,000 signatures required. When filing her petitions and paperwork with the Illinois State Board of Elections, Harold filed 10,000 signatures with the board as that is the maximum that can be filed for the position.
“The number of volunteer circulators and signatures collected is a strong indication of the momentum of our campaign,” Harold said in her statement. “Illinoisans are excited to have an attorney general who fights for the people and not the powerful political class.”
According to her website, Harold is an Illinois native who is currently living and practicing law in Champaign County. She specializes in commercial disputes and has advised on First Amendment protections for religious institutions.
