Henry Repeating Arms Founder and CEO Anthony Imperato honored four Texans for their bravery and service during a presentation on April 19 at the National Friends of NRA Event in Houston. The ceremony included the first public recognition of three Austin Police Department officers for their actions in stopping a recent mass shooting in Austin, as well as Juan Lopez, who intervened during a school shooting event in Pasadena.

The event highlighted the importance of recognizing individuals who act with courage and selflessness to protect others. Imperato said, “When innocent people were under attack, these officers ran toward danger and helped bring a murderous rampage to an end.” He added that their actions represent “the very best of law enforcement and the very best of America.”

The three Austin police officers were presented with Henry Law Enforcement Tribute Edition rifles for their quick response to the deadly attack in Austin’s entertainment district. Their names are being withheld from print by Henry Repeating Arms to respect their privacy while investigations continue. Speaking about the significance of honoring these individuals as America’s 250th anniversary approaches, Imperato said, “As we look toward America’s 250th anniversary, we should recognize the people who continue to defend the lives and freedoms of others right here at home. The heroes we honored did not ask for the moments that tested them, but when those moments came, they answered.”

Juan Lopez was also recognized on stage after receiving one of North America’s highest civilian honors—the Carnegie Medal—for risking his life to save others during a school shooting incident. Imperato presented him with a Henry Texas Tribute Edition rifle and said, “Heroes do not always wear uniforms. Sometimes they are teachers, fathers, and good men who refuse to stand by when innocent lives are in danger.”

The evening included support for Friends of NRA’s mission related to shooting sports’ future advancement; Henry Repeating Arms donated its last Spirit of ’76 Semisesquintennial Edition rifle which raised $10,000 for the organization.
