House committee to hold hearing on parental rights and legal issues in schools

The Committee on Education and Workforce, chaired by Representative Tim Walberg, announced on June 3 that it will hold a hearing titled “Breaking Trust: Attacks on Parental Rights, Inappropriate Content, and Legal Abuses in America’s Schools.” The hearing is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, at the Rayburn House Office Building.

According to the announcement, witnesses will include Dr. Aaron Spence, Superintendent of Loudoun County Public Schools; Dr. Maria Su, Superintendent of San Francisco Unified School District; and Dr. Macquline King, Superintendent and CEO of Chicago Public Schools.

The committee said credentialed media planning to cover the hearing must RSVP via email. The event is open to the press and will be live-streamed on the Committee’s YouTube page.

The House Education and Workforce Committee manages federal programs concerning education, labor, health and workforce development; influences policy on issues such as student loans and worker protections; and serves in the legislative sector with jurisdiction over education and labor matters, according to the official website.
