House Minority Leader Tony McCombie welcomed hundreds of visitors to the Illinois Capitol on April 16 as advocates from several organizations traveled to Springfield to discuss their legislative priorities with lawmakers.
The visit brought together representatives from groups including the Illinois Association of Bankers, United Counties Council of Illinois, Township Officials of Illinois, and the Illinois Chamber of Commerce. These organizations used their time at the Capitol to meet with legislators and share perspectives on issues important to their members.
McCombie said she made time during the week to speak with these groups and support them during their lobby days in and around the Capitol. The meetings provided an opportunity for dialogue between lawmakers and constituents about current legislation under consideration.
McCombie, a Republican, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 to represent the state’s 89th House District, replacing previous state representative Andrew Chesney according to Ballotpedia.
These advocacy visits are part of a broader effort by interest groups across Illinois seeking input into policy decisions that affect communities statewide. Lawmakers regularly meet with such delegations during session weeks at the Capitol.
