House Republicans announced on May 6 a new Property Tax Reform Agenda that aims to lower costs, increase transparency, and give taxpayers in Illinois a stronger voice. The announcement said the proposals are designed to deliver relief to homeowners, require more accountability from taxing bodies, and ensure residents are informed before taxes are raised.
The topic is important as many families across Illinois have expressed concerns about rising property taxes and their impact on household budgets. The House Republicans said their agenda is focused on addressing these concerns by prioritizing taxpayer interests.
“Illinois families deserve real property tax relief. That’s why House Republicans have introduced a Property Tax Reform Agenda focused on lowering costs, increasing transparency, and giving taxpayers a stronger voice,” the statement said. “Our proposals would help deliver relief to homeowners, require more accountability from taxing bodies, and ensure residents are informed before taxes are raised.” The announcement also stated: “Families across Illinois are tired of paying more and getting less. It’s time to put taxpayers first.”
Amy Grant is among the Republican lawmakers supporting this initiative. Grant was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 to represent the state’s 47th House District, replacing previous state representative Deanne Mazzochi, according to information available about her service.
The proposed reforms come at a time when many residents continue to seek solutions for high property tax burdens.
