HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital announced on June 1 that the butterfly release ceremony hosted by HSHS Home Care has been rescheduled for Tuesday, June 9 at 4 p.m. The event will take place in the Healing Garden on the east side of Good Shepherd Hospital and is open to community members who wish to celebrate and remember loved ones who have passed.
Those who previously submitted RSVPs and ordered butterflies will be contacted regarding the new date. The ceremony will include a reading of names of those being honored, followed by the butterfly release.
Community members are invited to personally release a butterfly in memory of their loved one by reserving a butterfly for $15, which must be paid prior to the ceremony. To purchase a butterfly or RSVP, individuals can contact Engelbart by calling or texting 217-685-0702 or emailing [email protected]. Butterflies may also be reserved online by visiting giving.hshs.org/sae/donate and selecting “Butterfly Release and/or Hospice Memorials” under the “I want to support” section. Participants should check “I would like to dedicate this gift,” select “In Memory Of,” and provide their loved one’s name as honoree.
