The Illinois Bar Association will present a live webcast titled “The Future of Limited Scope Representation: Fifth District” on June 24. The program is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and offers 2.0 hours of MCLE credit, including professionalism, civility, legal ethics, or sexual harassment prevention credit, subject to approval.
Limited scope representation allows clients to hire an attorney for specific parts of their case while enabling attorneys to manage their workload more effectively. The webcast aims to provide a comprehensive overview of limited scope representation by addressing what it is, its optimal uses, challenges that may limit its application, and strategies for overcoming those challenges.
Topics include professional conduct rules and Supreme Court requirements related to limited scope work; practical applications inside and outside the courtroom; ethical and malpractice considerations in accepting limited engagements; approaches for working with judges unfamiliar with such arrangements; and real-world scenarios illustrating decisions practitioners might make in various situations.
The Illinois Bar Association supports Illinois lawyers by providing continuing legal education, practice management resources, and professional networking opportunities. It also promotes diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives; recognizes excellence through awards for pro bono service and diversity leadership; serves more than 28,000 members; utilizes the Illinois Bar Center for administrative operations; and operates under the guidance of an elected president along with a Board of Governors and an Assembly, according to the official website.
Registration information for the webcast is available online.
