Illinois Bar Association to host webcast on Pre-Trial Fairness Act with judges’ insights

The Illinois Bar Association announced on Apr. 22 that it will present a live webcast titled “Pre-Trial Fairness Act: A Judicial Perspective” on Tuesday, May 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:05 p.m.

The event will feature two Illinois trial judges who will discuss the implementation and effects of the Pre-Trial Fairness Act since its enactment in September 2023. The act abolishes money bail, promotes individualized assessments, limits pretrial detention, requires law enforcement to issue notices to appear for low-level offenses, and ensures due process.
