The Illinois State Bar Association announced on May 28 its Member Appreciation Month contest, inviting members to submit a 100-word summary of their most notable artificial intelligence experience. The top entry will receive a $100 Visa gift card, and selected submissions will be published in the Illinois Bar Journal.

Members are encouraged to share stories about how they have used AI to save time, make connections, or identify patterns that would not have been discovered otherwise. The association also welcomes cautionary tales involving AI prompts that did not go as planned. Entries should be sent to psherman@isba.org by June 14, 2026. There is no limit on the number of entries an individual may submit.

According to the announcement, only members of the Illinois State Bar Association are eligible to participate in this contest. The prize may be taxable as provided by law and cannot be exchanged or transferred. If a winner is unable or unwilling to accept the prize, another winner may be selected at the discretion of the association.

The Illinois State Bar Association supports more than 28,000 members by providing continuing legal education, practice management resources, and professional networking opportunities through its administrative operations at the Illinois Bar Center in Springfield. It promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion within its membership and recognizes excellence through awards for pro bono service and diversity leadership, according to the official website. The organization operates under an elected president, Board of Governors, and Assembly.

Submissions for the contest must be received before June 14, 2026.
